Abigail Chenard is a dance artist, choreographer, performer, and educator based in New York City. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she began her dance training there before moving to New York at 18 to pursue a conservatory-style education at Marymount Manhattan College, where she earned a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography in 2021.
Since graduating, Abigail has performed professionally with artists and companies including VERBAL ANIMAL, Serena Wolman, Zoe Fyfe, Michelle Thompson, Belinda McGuire, Taylor Hollingsworth, Alexis Diggs, and Urban Tribe, while continuing to develop her own artistic practice. Her choreographic and performance work has been presented at venues throughout New York City, including Arts On Site, The Green Space, Emerging Artists Theatre, and Triskelion Arts.
Her practice moves between performance, choreography, and dance education, with an interest in exploring the relationship between movement, theater, perception, and human connection.
Abigail has performed and collaborated with choreographers like Nathaniel Hunt, Serena Wolman, Taylor Hollingsworth, Zoe Fyfe, Michelle Thompson, Belinda McGuire and others over the past six years. She’s also worked as an associate for the Kiss My Face dance festival. Abigail’s career has taken her around the world, performing in New York City and throughout Europe, including France, Berlin, and Italy.
Abigail is dedicated to creating safe, healthy dance education environments. With experience teaching modern, ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, and acrobatic techniques. Abigail currently teaches students starting at four years old and extends all the way up to professional dancers, focusing on making dance training joyful and grounded.
